INITIAL ASSESSMENT & RECOMMENDATION

Identify a site through assessment of the community (including demographics) to establish need, level of competition, current competitor strategy and services being offered in the community falling into the venous realm.

Interview and select the potential candidate physicians in conjunction with Hospital Administration. Two to four physicians per site is recommended for a vein center that is operational four to five days per week.

Assess current structure through internal and external evaluation of facility, which includes marketing strategies, billing and collections, equipment and supplies, staffing and management, including organizational chart and reporting structure.

Offer site-specific recommendations for physician and staff training, propose marketing strategies, billing and collection plan, efficient and economic supply purchases, staff utilization and management.

Negotiate best pricing on equipment and supplies.
TRAINING & IMPLEMENTATION

Identify the “knowledge gaps” for each individual trainee and individualize their training program to strengthen any weaknesses and enhance their strengths.

Conduct a 2-Day training program at Varicosity Vein Center in Birmingham, Alabama for physicians and support staff, during which they will observe ten to fifteen endovenous thermal ablation cases as well as patient evaluations and post-operative visits.

Provide additional training through coordinated participation on room preparation, tray set-up, ultrasound examination and treatment planning.

Precept physicians and vein center team on-site for the performance of initial procedures.

Obtain time-limited privileges at Hospital as needed in order to assist in the implementation of the Vein Program.

Provide Vein Service policies and procedures that support established Hospital policies.

Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance and peer review activities related to performance.

We will make our best effort to ensure that the hospital is capable and qualified to perform Ablation Services within the timeline agreed upon within each facility.

Assist Hospital in providing ongoing assessment, monitoring, oversight of the clinical environment and advisory services with respect to the clinical environment of Hospital’s Vein Center, including oversight and improvement of the quality and efficiency of the delivery of Vein Services.

Assist Hospital in the development and implementation of appropriate clinical protocols, medical practice standards, and policies and procedures governing the provision of Vein Services.

Assist Hospital in the timely and thorough credentialing and re-credentialing of all physicians and allied practitioners providing professional or clinical services to Vein Services patients.

Assist the Hospital in meeting the quality standards established for recognition as a Best Vein Care Center of Excellence, which include the following criteria:
1. Provide Comprehensive Services in a Dedicated Vein Center
2. Recognize & Respect Patient Rights & Health Care Privacy
3. Provide A Safe Environment for the Delivery of Patient Care
4. Evaluate the Patient’s Condition Before, During & After Treatment

We can work with your department in the allocation of revenues collected and distribution of actual expenses, including staffing, supplies, marketing, third party adjustments, bad debt, etc. to determine accurate bottom line.

Bi-monthly chart audit review, including correlation to ultrasound report, procedure(s) performed, charges billed, staging associated with the insurance carrier guidelines.

Confirm names of physicians performing procedures, professional demographics, hours allocated per physician to the vein center, case distribution, vein education and meetings attended.

Assessment of physician skill levels to determine the need for further training on radiofrequency or other energy sources (i.e. laser for perforators and short segments).

Assess skill level of both physician and ultrasonographer. Review protocol for evaluation of venous disease pre-operatively and post- operatively.

Evaluate the statistical data for all vein screenings, including number of screenings, conversions, days, times, location, providers and how it was conducted, i.e. RVT versus physician, educational presentation, scheduling of appointments at time of screening, advertisements (radio, newspaper, etc.) with cost analysis ratio, number of days scheduled in future with how many cases per week.

Evaluate marketing strategy plan for effectiveness, including brochures, website, signage, business cards, appointment cards, stationery, resource materials, advertisements (internal and external), etc.
